Z,

Surgery was yesterday and all went well. They cut out my torn ACL completely. They end up using 2 of the 4 strands of my right hamstring to build a new ACL. Over time (years) the hamstring will rebuild itself. They also found that my maniscus was tore. They fixed that as well.

They say I will be able to run again in 6 months. yippee.

Talked to the doctor yesterday. I have a torn ACL and a bone bruise. The bone bruise is far more painful. Surgery is scheduled for October 26th.

I saw the surgeon yesterday. He has me scheduled for surgery October 26th. MRI is scheduled for next week. He believes it is a torn ACL. He has me out of the brace and wants to get full flexibility back before he operates. I have physical therapy starting next week to work on that. If the MRI comes back negative they won't have to operate. I am crossing my fingers. 5 months of PT after surgery!

From what I've been told the doctor at the emergency room said that all the ligaments appear to still be in tact. The x-ray should showed no broken bones. He thought be probably torn the meniscus (cartilage). Nothing can be determined definitively without an MRI so Ed's gonna try an get that scheduled this week.

Ed had a very bad leg injury on September 16th's Mullet game. He made an awesome catch heading from shortstop to the outfield and as he quickly tried to turn and throw the ball back in I guess something popped in his knee. An ambulance came and took him to the clinic. Get well Ed.
