I was thinking that I don't really know what some friends of mine do at work. So I put this together below. It is a 2 sentence description of people's jobs.

I work in marketing group. I manage, design, and build websites and blast emails for a marketing research company in Chicago.

Ang
I am a high school Psycology teacher. I work at a school in the western suburbs of Chicago.

Aunt Helen
I am retired. I do whatever makes me happy. Painting, gardening, cooking, sleeping in, eating, playing with all my friends and family. Not necessarily in that order.

I am a litigation attorney. I defend people and companies who are sued.

Senior Financial Analyst: Responsible for various accounting and reporting functions. Create reports to help determine profitability.

denick
I manage an engineering team that is working on extremely efficient lighting systems. We are trying to reduce energy consuption in outdoor lighting systems by as much as 90% in order to cut global warming caused by burning coal for electricity.

Rob V
I am a Project Manager and Instructional Designer with an eLearning company. I write, design, and manage the Production of online training.

Mary Beth
I am a stay at home mom in Austin. I am pretty much my son's human handkerchief and spit rag and I spend my days keeping him from electrocuting or poisoning himself, feeding him, bathing him and cleaning up after him, swinging him at the park until my arm is tired and pretty much making sure he is growing into a gentle, kind and intelligent human being. In my spare time, I handle our family finances, our social calendar, and am head pastry chef and line cook.

I work for a commercial real estate appraisal company. I finalize large appraisal reports from 4 appraisers, make hard copies and send to clients; also in most cases, I e-mail these reports to the clients, or post them on their websites. I am also the person who keeps the entire office running smoothly.

I am a stay at home mom who works one day a week as a young children's gymnastics coach. I hope I don't need to explain the first part of my job. For the second part I teach young children ages 18 months to 6 years old gymnastics. I work with the kids and their parents to teach the basics and get them moving and loving being active.

I am the Network Infrastructure technician for a local school district. My responsibilities are to maintain the data network including routers, switches, fiber optic and copper cabling, time clocks (and anything else they can think of to throw at me) for 40 schools and 6 support buildings.

I research their conduct in the crime, their criminal history, family background, substance abuse history, job history, physical and mental health issues, current financial status, and apply the federal sentencing guidelines in order to recommend an appropriate sentence to the Court.

I work as a sales engineer for a marine equipment manufacturer. I answer customer inquiries, prepare technical proposals with pricing, and assist with marketing (trade shows, catalog, website, etc.). I also am responsible for the CAD/network administration at our company.

For work, I manage an application development team. In addition to that I am a project manager of medium to large sized projects for our company. Most of them are systems related.
